Acid staining is such an open field there's no 'set' ways of application. I like to add a little black to the mix myself.... up to 6oz to a gallon, then dilute 3-4 to one with water. This will knock off the "over all" orange. You can also do a second spray with diluted black and that will give you more of a variegated change.. I just go over what's down, sometimes before the first spray has completely dried. (Don't step in wet stain)

I also like to prewet my floors to even out my mismanaged application. I don't get dribbles as much and the color tends to flow-blend together better. (At least for me).

I also don't like the super deep dark coloring a lot of installers do..... but hey, that's just me. I prefer lighter base coloring with darker accents. The pre flooding of the surface does that for me. Some installers like jumping around on their left foot, spreading plant food, some like rolling around on the floor with their plastic sleeping bag. Others like to have trails of strings chasing them to the door. Popcorn, potato chips, grass seed, corn flakes.... lots of ways to change the outcome of an acid stain.

Learn to read a floor. On regular concrete, unseen devils await. If anything was laid on the floor just after pouring, it can ghost on you when reactive stain is applied. Fuels oils, trim man spraying his clear urethane on the trim laying on the slab... hard troweled surface that has closed up the surface where the hydrochloric acid won't open it up so the salts won't react. gene ec-Indy

Wes, You may find that dilution too weak. Do a small test area. (hint) 8 oz of tan, 24 oz of water, 11ml. of black. Don't blow a whole gallon of stain. That formula is 1/16th of the whole at 3-1 dilution. gene ec-Indy

Call your distributor to confirm any info you get on the board. Best stay with who will gives you direction in case you get in a pickle. gene ec-Indy
