I am looking/bidding at a job. They are spec'cing koester Vap 2000 for the vapor barrier. I know their vapor barriers are well known ( website says:
"can block moisture vapor emissions from coming through a concrete slab (on or below grade) from up to 25 lbs/1000 SF/24 hrs and can reduce levels to below 3 lbs/1000 SF/24 hrs "
Vapor Testing per ASTM F 1869 (CaCl) Protocol:
Up to 10 lbs/1000 ft2/24hr = 150 ft2/gal; approx 10 mils
10 to 15 lbs/1000 ft2/24hr = 125 ft2/gal; approx 13 mils
15 to 20 lbs/1000 ft2/24hr = 100 ft2/gal; approx 15 mils
20 to 25 lbs/1000 ft2/24hr = 75 ft2/gal; approx 21 mils
.- vb5 says up to 12 lbs.-(at 225-3300 sq ft.- not sure if you can put it on thicker to raise the numbers) is this in the same measurement unit) . I guess I don't know enough the testing methods? Can I make a case to use ours?
Anyone have any experience using Koester products as far as cost/availability/ overcoating times, etc. I know Koestner specifies shot-blasting as the only acceptable prep method, no grinding.
Any info anyone has would be appreciated- as its a job that could really get my foot in the door at some local hospitals.
Thanks in advance
