Posts: 7 01/20/11 04:23 AM	Tags : None hello everybody need help . first timer here so be easy . customer wants smooth glass like finish using mf .so with my limited experience i will sand the tf coat with 100grit screen floor buffer machine then apply first coat of micro and sand as well and then finish the last coat of micro and sand as well seal wax done ; or is this overkill on the sanding . all replies welcome

Posts: 460 01/21/11 09:40 PM	Warrior, I think all the sanding is overkill myself. What sealer will you be using? If you are going to use Epoxy the surface itself does not need to be glass smooth unless, you are going to stain the overlay for a certain look that you are trying to achieve! Now since CSS is not an approved indoor sealer, if you use WCS to seal with the surface will need to be smooth to attain a smooth finish. I think the only way you will get a glass look finish will be by using an epoxy top coat. I am sure there are many different ways to seal this and others will chime in. Good luck! Posts: 823 01/22/11 03:15 PM	Epoxy would be the way to go . But i would sand after thinfinish to make sure there are no trowel marks. Make sure you sand after each coat of micro . Look at the pictures in gallery if you want something light . That is only thinfinish with two light color coats of palamino . Sealed with epoxy - but sanded thinfinish . Sealed with uv1 with small highlights of charcoal reflector, poured on after clear , just layed with a brick layers trowel . Seal with epoxy and you could also use any stain on it . You wont have to deal with the micro dust . Its under Custom Concrete . Tom M

Posts: 154 01/26/11 12:20 AM Boom, Boom, Boom.	Hay Warrior, The most important thing when applying Micro is to ensure that the Micro is not allowed to be built up. Micro is only intended to fill the grain in ThinFinish. The biggest mistake that installers make when using Micro is that they apply it to thick and when that happens it will fail. Almost as important is to chose the correct sealer/topcoat to use on the floor. This should be discussed with your distributor and make sure you have info on how the floor will be used, where it is located in the building and the desired look that the customer would like to have.

Posts: 2 02/03/11 08:41 PM	I thought micro was to dense for epoxy to bond to it. I mixed a little thin finish into the micro to ensure enough texture for the epoxy to bond.

Posts: 48 02/04/11 12:44 AM	I have mostly done 1st coat TF and 2nd coat MF before laying down epoxy. I like it because it really creates a smooth floor before putting down epoxy. Also it can create some different looks if you go with 2 opposite colors, which can change the way the reflector look. The only difficult part of installing MF is having to be down on your knees to really pull it nice and tight.
