Bob, 3 parts texture pave to 2 parts vermiculite by volume and fiber was also added to the mix. Applied about at 2" thick on the average.
Set time depends on the weather conditions and the amount of water in the mix. I apply a 5 gallon batch and see how it behaves and then decide how many batches I think I can keep up with at once. |

Ed,
You have continued to improve your vertical carving, I like this even more than your earlier work. I really like the coloring. What vermiculite are you using? BTW, I cant find Michigan or Lydia in this one ?

Dave, thank you for your comments! I don't always care for some of the colors that the customers choose either, but this guy had a good sense of color.
I have been trying vermiculite manufactured by grace building products. They have many different types on their web site, I keep experimenting with different types. (Lydia is hard to find, but when you do find her, she's topless this time...) ---Ed |

Ed, do you find this mix a little "grainy'? If you do.... depending on the size of light weight your using, throw in some Metakaolin. This will improve strength, reduce efflorescence, and give you a creamier mix with less water. I use this to tweak my vertical mix. The Metakaolin is a pozzolan that does some neat stuff to cement based mixes adding strength and workability. gene ec-Indy

Gene, yes the mix is definitely a little on the grainy side. Thanks for your input about the additive. I am not at all familiar with that product, but I will hopefully find some and give it a try.---Ed

Oh I like the grainy texture too. I was relating to handling the material. You get it too "grainy" and it wants to fall appart. There are easy ways to make your stone look grainy. gene
