Needed something to cut score lines with, so i took my 4" Makita duck taped a piece of 3/4" wood on the handle for depth, then hooked up a dimmer switch outlet to slow the RPM down. this worked so good, I almost had to set on my hands to keep from clapping! I've been making some sample boards looking to land that first real job. Had some trouble with the stamps sticking, not sure if stamps are not conditioned right, use to using powder release not clear print.I wet the boards and it seamed like the top stayed wet for a long time, an hour or more any thoughts?

Ok miake sure that yr bond coat does not dry out cause it will cause tex pave to pull up on the stamp. Also wet yr skimcoat well before putting on yr bond coat. Also you can clean yr stamps with WD40 make sure to rub off all residue and this works a treat everytime. Keep yr stamps out of the sun when not in use. Also dried on polymer will make them stick everytime. I hose mine off periodically with water and clean with WD40...cause the clean print takes a toll on them..In between stamping clean them off and put them in the shade.

Its better to stamp early when wetter dont let it dry too much ..i usually put someone light to stamp early..if your too heavy youll have to stamp dryer and this can cause sticking also. Also the edges are going to dry faster so I use the touch up stamp on the edges almost as soon as I lay my tex pave just slapping it with the palm of my hand and giving it a quarter turn everytime i move. Then you can use the large stamps in the centre and a s soon as one starts sticking get it hosed off and rub with wd40 and go again ...works for me everytime..just make sure that there is no oil residue left on the stamp because this will tamper with your staining later if there is oil on yr tex pave.

It must be my stamps I've had them for sometime now. I tried starting wet but it kept pulling up the tex pave I even tried laying the stamp on it and patting with my hand same thing happened had to let it get pretty setup for it to stay down. I remember in training how wet the tex pave seem to be. I'm going to try WD40 next time . Thanks for the advice

were they used for stamping conventional concrete before? If so they will give trouble for the overlay and youll need to get some new ones.

Nice work Macguyver ! You have a gift my friend. There is a document in your training binder about sticking while stamping, here is a link to it at elitecrete.com http://elitecrete.com/PDFs/EliteCreteSystems_Product_Documents/PI.029%20-%20Quick%20Notes%20-%20Eliminating%20Sticking%20When%20Stamping.pdf read and enjoy.

I guess if your renting stamps you would need to be careful in what you get thanks guys. ( Bob Mac) |

Dekco thanks for the advice about using WD-40. Sprayed my seamless stamps with it, let it soak in for about 3 hrs wipe them off , did a small overlay on a 7x7 table and they work great! thanks again. Bob Mac
