We have recently pulled up the tile in our basement and would like to apply a thin layer of concrete to the existing slab. The goal is not so much to add a decorative finish but just to make the floor smooth and uniform. There is a dizzying array of products to choose from so I would like advice on what is the appropriate mix to use for this project.
The area is about 600 square feet and is a below grade slab. We reckon we need to add about 1/4 of material. Any suggestions? We like to DIY as often as possible but in this case I'd prefer to source the materials myself then have someone with some concrete experience do the pouring and smoothing. We can handle any sealing that is required, but we are a bit reluctant to do the pouring ourselves.
