Stamped vs Stenciled |

What are the main differences between stamped and stenciled....for what I heard, you can stamped stenciled concrete as well.
-Do you still use the same mixes (e.i: elitecrete, surecrete) for both applications. -Can you apply it on an existing concrete surface with a 1/4 inche thickness. Isn't this going to affect its resistance. I just asking this questions, since I heard that stenciled might be a bit more appropriate and easier to work with, I just wondering how strong it would with a 1/4 thickness. Thanks a lot for your help....

You really need to get to class. (don't ever put Elite Crete and Surecrap in the same sentence). I left your other question alone because you wanted an installer to answer and not a (lowly) distributor....... Well, i was one before the other. Not here to sell you anything. We offer several bag mixes that do different things. Our Texture Pave is, well, for thicker textures. Our Thin Finish is for (guess) thinner textures. Our Micro Finish is for really thin applications.
OK.... enough of being a smart arse. The 1/4" thickness doesn't degrade the product performance. It is manufactured for a thicker application. Larger quartz sands, bla, bla ,bla. Anyway, youclearn all of this when you attend a class. If you are attempring to "compare" products on the market...... well, I'll let an installer answer that has switched from "other" stuff, including the surecrap. Oh, yes this can be applied vertically. I give a seminar on occasion showing 2"-4" thick wall applications where you carve your stones. A regular 1/4" app is no big deal. The Thin Stamped stencil can be applied vertically. We off a sticky back stencil that works well. gene ec-Indy The stencil stamp thing can be done but it isn't shown much as it's a PIA. You can scribe/hand carve to achieve a much better look. |

Hey DCS,
First of all thank you for your help!!! it is greatly appreciated.....you seem to know well the product, and yes, I'm guessing you were an installer once. As for the classes, yes I attended to an Elitecrete seminar a couple of years ago....however I need some refreshment on the different techniques (there are many, and it seems hard to specialize just on one) , since I'm planning to start a company with a partner. We are still researching the market and figuring out what's best for starting out (if you have any advice....). - One last question (i hope).....I saw a couple of videos on youtube, where they stamped and stenciled concrete, but from the pouring (by this I mean, with a 3 to 4 inches depth....), could that be regular concrete ?...or texture-pave...?...if TP, wouldn't that be too expensive...??.... Again thanks for your help.... |

Who's your distributor? Now please don't get me wrong and don't take this in a negative way but you are asking too many dumb ass questions to have been to class. (sorry) Full depth pours can be stenciled and stamped. Most (all) use a roller stamp because of weight issues. Texture pave at that depth would kill the pocket book. I've done small t/o and replace because of timing issues on applying an overlay. (28 day hydration- curing-issues) of regular concrete repour. As far as to which procedure to focus on starting out a new business, that's kinda a personal thing. What do you like to install? What will the customer base in your area want the most and what part of that base are you targeting? Lower/higher/art festered..... all the above, You aren't in the concrete trades.... Are you a faux artist? Back ground please.......??? A good distributor will guide you through this maze. A good distributor would have answered these questions before you asked them. A good distributor (yours) is waiting for a phone call from you. |
