Google black granite and look at all the different "types". Since this is an outdoor project skid resistance is important, so you need a texture. When I think of granite, I think of speckles of color. Of course the customer may be thinking veining and that's a little more time consuming on a larger project. Mica flakes would be out of the question. (That's why I asked it it was a counter top).
If going with a Splatter type application, High pressure, kinda thick mix. This will give you a very fine pebble texture. High loading of either Charcoal Portion Control or SYPP black. (Watch for a quick dry) The color loading wll cause it to want to dry quickly. Also, color your base coat the same as your first spray coat. Come back with a medium dark gray and then a very light gray accent spray. If doing a trowel texture, full coverage of a medium dark charcoal or sypp black. Mix up a darker mix and skip trowel, then apply even a darker second skip trowel. Once dry, take a crappy sprayer that will give you a consistent spit. Throw in some straight Ultra Stone and spit it lightly over the surface. Let dry and seal. The ultra stone will cause a lighter coloration where ever it lands. It doesn't take much so don't over do it on your accent spitting. I wont get into veining, too hard to explain. gene ec-Indy |
