Polyaspartic failure |
Lead | ||
|
I recently installed a acetone dye system with a 70% polyaspartic clear coat. The garage floor was in good shape probally 1.5 yrs old no current sealer. We did
a acid wash and neutrlize and final rinse. the floor had tire marks where both cars were parked in the same place everyday after an hour drive home, we
scrubbed the tire marks with a degreaser but could not get them completely gone. 1 week later the dye and poly are comin up. Ive done over 10 thousand square
foot of this product in the last year and have not had a problem before. So what im looking for is the best way to get rid of the rubber that has basicly
burned into the floor and patch with out being so noticable. Any help would be appreciated.

We always grind a floor before coating with anything.

we do also if were using a overlay or colored coating such as epoxy or polycoat, but if your staining you want the trowel finish so we acid wash to open the
pours, and on a micro we stain and use sa for our clear coat and works perfect, when you grind what kind of grinder and pads are you using.

Is this customer an Armor All junky? If you have silicone in this area of the floor you may have to grind and overlay to get this one right.

Thanks Dave, they are not armorall junkys they just drive an hour to work and back and park in the excact same place daily, never seen any thing like it. Do
you think i could grind enough with 100grid diamond pads to get rubber off without messing up the concrete and what kind of grinder is everybody using to grind
floors and not leave wheel marks?

This may be a stupid question, but did you pressure wash? I know you have to wait longer if you pressure wash to seal, but we've had good luck
with the removal of tire marks with pressure washing. We use a 4000 psi. |

Hey BS, I didnt pressure wash but i did use my 20" floor buffer with a black pad to clean and it did get all the lawn mower tire marks off. By the way
what kind of grinder do you use, im in the market to purchase one and really dont know which one. Ive used a edco 10 turbo that left more grinder marks than my
7" hand grinders and have also used a 20" 110 volt with dimonds about the size of quarters that would not do nothing to mastic's and hardly take
the finish of my own trowelled floor.

We've got an Onfloor 20" 220v. We use dimabrushes for mastic. 110v won't satisfy you.

having the same problem on a floor as well with poly, used some acetone dye, poly cut 20% with xyleen, rolled it on, soaked in, rolled second coat after about 3.5 hours. This was done before Christmas on a warmer day, now the thing is peeling up....not lovin Poly right now. I sanded the floor with 80 grit screens and got alot of dust so I know there wasn't a cure N seal on it. Any ideas on what might have made this happen? I didn't want to grind the floor for the same reason about the trowel marks. Is Elite Crete's poly better than most or has it got it's own demons? thanks

Just reading through these posts, and I'm curious what SASE machine you are using? I just bought a little SASE grinder, and it seems well made, so am looking closer at their other machines. Thanks for any advice!
