Are you pouring this in the shop upside down or cast in place?
If upside down on melamine you could apply a "gel" coat by spraying Thin Finish at low pressure. Let set for a few minutes and then use Texture Pave with fibers at 1 pound per bag. Mix tight and hand pack it. You only need to go 1" or so on the thickness on the top and then thicken the edge. If you pour it full depth go ahead and add WASHED pea gravel at less 40% by volume. If cast in place, reverse the procedure. Keep the Texture Pave away from the side forms and a 1/4" low on the top. Place the Thin Finish on the Texture Pave and against the forms. Use a vibrating sander on the forms to remove bug holes. Don't fuss with the finish until it takes a little set. This is after you screed the top off. If you are having problems closing the finish, Let dry, sand and apply Micro Finish on the surface. Less than paper thin. You will have to add a few coats, sanding between each. Stand your trowel straight up on edge and pull the MF across the top. Don't over work it because it will start to pull when it thickens up. I have a class coming up in January showing this app and overlays on mdf and existing counter tops. Vertical stone carving also. gene ec-Indy |

I really love the veins. I have done a few counter tops. I would like to learn the veining tricks if anyone is willing to share. Thanks in advance.
