Posts: 12 04/10/09 02:22 PM	Be careful... I have tried them for about 6 months before and never got any good results. I got leads from them, but not quality leads, they always expected something for nothing. They will get leads for you and they will want to send them to as many people in their system as possible, that way they can charge for each lead they send out. It might only be the area I am in, but you could always try them and cancel at any time if you get the same results I did. John

Posts: 68 04/10/09 02:36 PM	its a great deal if you are the guy who consistently under bids everyone in your area. like flaconcrete said the people who go there are wanting everything for nothing. i tried it for awhile and got a couple of flat work jobs from it but barely enough to cover the costs of the number of total trash leads they send out. Oh, they also don't like you posting the same post multiple times in different areas. (change the wording and post on different days) Make sure you post under the proper heading. gene ec-Indy Oh, Kijiji is another freebie that seems to be good for local advertizing..... edit: Got to thinking about my reply. I should state that this type of advertizing doesn't work well for my area. It may very well work OK for your area. I dont know how many times I got a message where someone found my on service magic and when I call the "future" customer they say oh im not really interested jsut looking around. and there goes a waste of $25 they charge me.

Posts: 8 04/19/09 12:11 PM	I have been with Service Magic for about 2 years. In that time frame I have received 60 plus leads. Out of the 60 we won 3 jobs. Each lead cost between $25-50 plus the initial setup fee. As you can quickly tell, this has not been a profitable way for us to advertise. I am in the process of cancelling my account. This is not as easy as going to the website and clicking a button to be removed. You have to submit then hope you receive a phone to confirm to be deleted. They will try in talk into changin your mind a spend more money with them to generate more worthless leads. In the mean time you may a receive another lead which you will have to pay for. It is my opinion, Service Magic is non beneficial, only will raise your overhead.

You can do yourself better by spending a couple of extra minutes chasing the SAME leads they are demanding payment for. TOTALLY crap!........ They told me the same crap when I thought about joining. Number ONE.... see how long it takes to get out of their.... STOP at ANYTIME bullchit. See how many leads you get for asphalt, paver's, wood decks, bogus crap that the guy on the other end of the phone hasn't a clue why you are calling them. And these guys are one of the better HORSE CRAPPIE companies out there. I'd shoot myself in the foot before I'd consider "joining" one of these "sweet talking, bullchitting, companies. Posts: 1 06/18/11 09:18 PM	Looks like there are lots of guys not happy with service magic. I myself have used them for two years and have had great results. I pay between $100-150 month but it generates $50-75k/yr in sales. My business is part-time too. I really don't understand how guys can say the service doesn't work? Its a lead and up to you to close the sale. Now don't take me the wrong way guys, im not trying to come down on anyone just give my opinion and help. Here are some basic musts to make the service work...1) call the customer within 24 hrs touch base. 2) field the call, ask questions on what they are looking for, if they keep mentioning "cheap as possible" don't give your time. 3) go to the estimate prepaired, look like a pro, have sample boards, pics Ect. 4) complete your entire profile on the site. Your only paying $9-20 a lead for a chance to earn $1-2k on the job average, plus the lead says there status "ready to hire" or " planning budgeting". If you think you have to under-bid the competition your wrong! I sways tell the client im not the cheapest, I do quality work and do it right, sure someone will underbid me but they will probably cut corners Ect. People notice this and as long as your not raping them on the bid they will pay for quality. I don't waste my time with fliers and that other stuff, it worked ok for me but time consuming.
