Posts: 84 01/21/12 02:37 PM	Tags : None Customer has this down on the floor now and it seamed to be coming up with the wipe of a paper towel and water. What would be the best way to remove the concrete stain before overlaying? The floor is not sealed. Also this is a 375 sq ft interior I was planing on renting the the EDCO single disc, does anyone have experience with this grinder?

Posts: 3490 01/21/12 05:45 PM	The 10" is better (what she said) than the dual in my opinion if you can get it with a 10" cup wheel. They mostly want you to use the inserts with the wedges....sucks. The dyna certs are not too bad but the machine lacks down pressure to make them any good. (Too light) A couple bags of THIN-FINISH on top helps a little....don't tell them that. If it works up with water, try some acid etching to see if that will remove it. You might have to add it a little stronger than normal, venting, mask.... to help it along. Posts: 120 01/21/12 07:11 PM	I've rented this before. vibrates like hell. it's belt driven and one of the belts popped in the middle of the job. they replaced the belts and it vibrated even more. I had 2300 sf overlay to remove. maybe if you tested it thoroughly before renting it it would be ok. I suspect i never did use it with the original belts.

Posts: 85 01/21/12 07:38 PM	Thanks for the help guys. What would be the ideal grinding system to use, shot blaster, 7" grinder & cup wheel? If the acid doesn't take the stain off is there something else that works well or should I just grind it off? ECBahamas - that would blow to have to grind that much with a single disk hopefully it will be a bit less painless for me as it's only 375 sq ft. This will be my first interior job so I am hoping it goes smoothly.

Posts: 51 01/21/12 09:16 PM	I went online and bought a 7inch milwaukee grinder and heads, its only 375sq. ft. Get a shop vac and a dust devil. Instead of renting for a couple of hundred dollars it will be yours for about the same amount. And Milwaukee has a great warranty on it.

Posts: 3491 01/22/12 02:48 AM	Knee pads and a 7" grinder is what I used for a few years..... with a good vac. Used to do up to 900 sq. ft. a day. Finally purchased a 7" stand up machine which was a joy. Then spent a few bucks and purchased a large grinder/polisher. A 7" turbo bit cup grinder, usually a 12 segement was cup wheel of choice. 24 segment was less aggressive and last longer (less cup marks). The single row and double row cup wheels are real aggressive and you find yourself drilling holes with them. Posts: 507 01/22/12 10:38 AM	I have a 7 in Dewalt and a stand up EZ edger ( Dewalt 7 in on a stand up frame ) The stand up keeps you off your knees, but the hand held has more control and faster in my opinion. I just hooked up the Duust Deputy, ITS A MUST HAVE, 375 ft, you probably will clean filter once or twice. I will usually grind anything under 1000 ft , larger than that I sub out. Acid xometimes won't penetrate a finish, Try a strong solution of 409 concentrate, will act like a stripper for waterbased material, good luck.

Posts: 971 01/23/12 11:43 AM	Forget the strippers , save your money . To grind that small amount shouldnt take long . I have gotten the bulk of that material off before with zylene and power wash , with turbo. The rest i had grind off . But of course yours is in side . tom m
