Posts: 1 10/30/11 09:53 AM	Tags : None I have installed a colored base coat with epoxy and I am going to tape 12x12 tile patterns on top of the epoxy after it dries then apply spartic over that. Any advice on when I should pull the tape up?

Posts: 2 10/31/11 12:42 PM	The base coat color provides the grout joints then I am applying a clear spartic with flake. when the spartic dries i am pulling the tape up which creates grout lines. make sense now?

Posts: 64 10/31/11 03:04 PM	You lost me too.. You broadcast your flakes in the wet epoxy base coat and when it is dry you scrape up access flake and then apply a clear coat over that. The polyaspartic drys in about two hours. and you don't want to pull tape through that . You would be breaking the film. so then you would have to put another coat on to protect your grout lines. If you want grout lines with tape the only way I see you doing it is by applying a base color and wait till it drys. tape out pattern apply another coat over top, then chip, pull tape then apply your polyaspartic over that. The only problem is timing is everything . if you pull tape to early the epoxy will fill the grout lines and if you wait to late have fun pulling the tape. Another solution is put base coat down and chip into that.. Then score your grout lines in with a saw. then apply your polyaspartic over that. Maybe someone else will chime in and give you some ideas. Keith

Posts: 438 10/31/11 06:55 PM	Guys sparticall will not bond to pt4 or pt1 or uv1.....so floocadet come up with a different idea....if u did flake in your pt4 at full broadcast then u can use sparticall as yr top coat.

Posts: 59 11/01/11 08:30 AM	if you are looking for grout lines in a flake floor tape your pattern over your 1st epoxy coat then broadcast 100% coverage into 2nd coat pull tape sael with urathane. looks fantastic.

I generally don't recommend it because of the difficulty in creating a smooth roller-line-free finish. The biggest problem with tile lines in epoxy floors is keeping the lines free during topcoat. You never seem to get all the chips cleaned up. Your roller WILL pick up chips and drop them. I have sawed lines and had great success. [PT4, full flake, RM, saw lines, RM] There are a million ways to skin a cat gentlemen, pick the one that keeps you clean.
