fgrc or gfrc . . . . glass fiber reinforced concrete. A system that mimics fiberglass using cementicious materials. A slurry mix (like Thin Finish) usually sprayed into a mold packed with a fiber rich backing mix becomes the substrate. Do a google search for "GFRC" and you will find a weekend full of reading.

Sorry everyone. Taken me a while to get back, Thanks to those who liked it, as for details. To start it was poured face down on melamine board which I wax, I also have a vibrator mounted to the btm of the table To get the veining, I simply start pouring a thin flowable layer of 50/50 tf mf, and stop pouring where I want the veining, sprinkle a very small amout of powder pigment along it and blow it into the seam and continue with the surface pour, the shading is simply light amounts of pigment sprinkled here and there. Once the face mix is poured I back it with a home mix of fgrc, keeping the face mix poured up around the edges.
The sinks are concrete, I used a simple sink mold siliconed to the table. Used fiberglass lawn edging cut down to 2" to build the lip and a combination of poorly carved styrofoam and a little cement to face it up and a heavy coat of crisco lard to keep it from sticking, don't have that quite figured out yet. Bolt it down over the fibergass ring and...
