			<description><![CDATA[ As a noob starting out, I would like to learn how to create my own mixes. I am in civil engineering as a profession, but noticed that the countertop mixes are a bit different to normal heavy structure concrete - it is a bit more refined and specific, not as robust.<div><br></div><div>I figured the ingredients are at least the following:</div><div><ul><li>Silica sand (or best available sand)</li><li>Cement</li><li>Water</li><li>Plastisizer add-mixture</li><li>Metakaolin add-mixture (for&nbsp;efflorescence and alkali-silica reaction)&nbsp;</li><li>Anti-shrinkage add-mixture&nbsp;</li></ul><div>Am I missing anything here? Please feel free to correct me where needed. What do you guys use, or is it all hush-hush family secrets?</div></div><div><br></div><div>PS: I am situated in Africa, so I should not be competition to anybody over there &nbsp;:)</div> ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ I had polished this top but wanted a marbled finish so I overlayed and colored it. <br><br><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v199/dcsinc/top%20n%20vertical%20class%20feb%202011/Img_0349a.jpg" alt="image"><br><br><br>Of course I couldn't just stop there so I added a little RE to make a color shift when you walked around it. I had to add some glow in the dark also. This was shot by hand and I had to leave the shutter open for a bit so&nbsp;it's blurred. I'll get my tripod out one of these days and get a clear shot. 			<description><![CDATA[ <p>The tops below were done by Dan Otto, with Otto Contracting in St. Louis, MO. He jumped right in and did a countertop right out of class. All the edges were done with the Z&nbsp;Counterforms. Texture-Pave was colored with Palomino.&nbsp;Highlighted with Coffee REFLECTOR Enhancer&nbsp;and E100-PT1 Fast.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br></p>

			<description><![CDATA[ Im looking at expanding what I can do right now and have been thinking about doing some precast stuff. Right now thinking about just making a small table to practice techniques but am thinking about getting some sink molds and building some vanity tops or maybe a vessel sink. I searched and see that some of used EC products to do the tops. <br><br>How have they held up? Could Thin finish be a good face coat and then Texture pave a good backer coat with some fiber mesh in it? Also would it still be best to spray a 2nd coat of TF and apply the TP like a floor application? ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ I have seen countertops made two ways.&nbsp; The first way is where the forms are made and the sections of countertop are made away from the kithchen or bar.&nbsp; Then they are individually brought to site and placed on cabinets.&nbsp; This way is similar to the way I have seen granite installed.&nbsp; <br>The second way I have seen is where the concrete is poured directly on&nbsp;a premade form on top of the cabinets.&nbsp; Seems like there is less room for error with option two.&nbsp; (Breaking slab, etc.)&nbsp; <br>Can anyone provide any insight or suggestions?<br>Thank you! ]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[ Voids in Countertop. ]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[ Just poured my first cast in place job in my own kitchen. Iv done 
several small precast pieces without any issues.<br>

I got several small voids around the&nbsp; forms either from poor vibration 
or lack of moisture or the joint was too narrow of a space. ( some were due it it sticking to the form when I removed.)<br><br>Materials 
used in this project was Sakrete 5000 Plus, and Iron oxide for the black
 color. I am very impressed in the workability of&nbsp; the material. <br>
<br>
My question is what would you recommend filing the voids with?&nbsp; <br><br>1.I was 
thinking some thin finish to get a bond coat and then mixing up some 
thick texture pave. <br>
<br>2.My only other option is getting some of the patching material Sakrete 
makes that is a vinyl polymer, im only worried about the final texture 
not matching.<br>

			<description><![CDATA[ OK guys, I&#39;m recovered from the last PLUS class and will be doing another one in January. I&#39;ve had a lot of calls and requests for this so here it is.

Jan. 7,8,9. Class starts at 8:30 each day and ends when ever we get done for the day. Of course lunch will be brought in as well as coffee and donuts each day.
One of the days we will go out for dinner at a local watering hole.... I mean restaurant. I am keeping the class small because we have so much to cover. I will
