We have recently pulled up the tile in our basement and would like to apply a thin layer of concrete to the existing slab. The goal is not so much to add a decorative finish but just to make the floor smooth and uniform. There is a dizzying array of products to choose from so I would like advice on what is the appropriate mix to use for this project.

The area is about 600 square feet and is a below grade slab. We reckon we need to add about 1/4 of material. Any suggestions? We like to DIY as often as possible but in this case I'd prefer to source the materials myself then have someone with some concrete experience do the pouring and smoothing. We can handle any sealing that is required, but we are a bit reluctant to do the pouring ourselves.

Thanks in advance...this is a great resource!

Can I go over the vinyl tile floor with an thin overlay and stain that or will I have to remove the tile and grind the concrete floor before I can install the stain? I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how to do this. What I really want to use is blue reflector on this floor. Any help for me , thank you....
Doug

How would it affect Tex Pave to add around one half of a cup of the EC liquid polymer to every bag of mix? You know, the stuff that looks and smells like Elmers glue? I just did a job (2200 SF) of 1/4" overlay and there were two small spots that didn't stick to the concrete below. You could literally tap it with your finger and it sounded hollow. Hence the question. NOTE: the two spots mentioned are at the bottom of a pretty steep grade (when it rains, these spots see a lot of water).

Hello! My name is Kalin. I had learned about this by my neighbor "Michael Wagner" who was a trainer and EliteCrete member. He is now deceased, (R.I.P.) Anyhow, I got certified and trained under him in 2006. He sent me out to work under him, and showed me his ways. I would like to get back into this and start building a reputation. I am looking for someone to do work for, or be taken under a watchful eye to show me how things are done "other ways". I'd Like to hear your opinions, I'm located in Riverside, and can travel throughout the whole state, even further locations if travel is compensated. I'd love to master Decorative concrete, and learn more techniques, as far as, Marketings, Business ends, Job biddings, and anything to help me start my business. I have put in a little time labor-wise only under Michael's watchful eye. I'd like to work with someone, as a laborer to start, and even maybe start a partnership when I'm ready to branch on my own. I have personal professional...

I was so exicted that I got up at 5 today to play with samples. The new colors are awsome. The dark brown and titaum is the best. The sherbert is very cool and the two greens definitely have their place. Going to quote a new strip club today at noon. Is there another coat that I can put over the sealer? or is there a product that can go in-between the rubber mat and the floor to create a barrier? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
